A Matelong family member has lived up to his billing as a sure athletics ace. Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong won a bronze in the just concluded 3000m steeplechase in Osaka, Japan at the World Athletics Chamioships. Richard was in the group that swept the traditional Kenyan specialty.
Richard Mateelong
finished third behind Brimin Kipruto (Gold, 8:13:82) and Olympic champion Ezekiel Kemboi (Silver, 8:16:94). He clocked in 8:17.59 to take the bronze and the three medallists celebrated together
with a lap of honour wrapped in a Kenyan flag. On behalf of the Matelong Family, we at the Matelong family home of the web wish to congratulate Richard on this achievement and encourage other family members to explore and exploit our talents to the fullest.
Richard was born on 14 Oct 1983 in Narok and has been running in the 1500m, 3000m, 3000m steeplechase and 5000m. We wish him many more years of athletic success.
